Life Sports Center Membership Fees

Application for Life Sports Center Membership

Mission Statement: 

The purpose of the Life Sports Center is to provide the Muhlenberg College community with a facility that is dedicated to supporting the ever-changing physical development needs of students and employees desiring to maintain healthy lifestyles.


Unrestricted Users: Who is permitted to use the Life Sports Center?
Full-time students, full-time employees, members of the Board of Directors and ongoing part-time staff as well as spouses and dependents (under the age of 23) of these individuals have unrestricted access to the Life Sports Center. Retired college employees and part-time semester appointment employees including adjunct faculty are also eligible to unrestricted use of the facility but do not have guest privileges. 


Entry Procedure: How do you gain access to the Life Sports Center?
The South entrance will serve as the lone point of entry for all users of the Life Sports Center during regular operating hours. Each individual who falls under the accepted guidelines for use must present a Muhlenberg College photo identification card in order to gain access to the Life Sports Center. Individuals are asked to swipe their photo identification card at the control desk upon entry to the building. No one will be granted access to the Life Sports Center before presenting proper identification. This includes athletes, students, administrators, faculty and staff.

 


Age Restrictions: How old must you be to use the Life Sports Center?
Unrestricted users with spouse and dependent privileges are eligible for restricted access for dependents under the age of 16 years. When under the close supervision of their parent or legal guardian, dependents under the age of 16 are permitted access to Memorial Hall, Dietrich Field House and Alumni Pool. **No one under the age of 16 is permitted to enter the weight room or cardio loft at any time. Any user under the age of 16 that is left unattended will be asked to leave the facility immediately. 

 


Fitness Areas Dress Code
Muhlenberg College continuously strives to cultivate an inclusive and comfortable environment for all members of the Muhlenberg community. In keeping with these ideals, the Life Sports Center encourages all members of the community to be mindful of the comfort levels of others in both conduct and attire. Those found to be fostering uncomfortable environment may be asked to modify their conduct or leave the Life Sports Center.  Shoes must be worn at all times in the Life Sports Center. Open toe shoes such as flip-flops or sandals are prohibited in the weight room and cardio fitness center.
 
The Life Sports Center staff reserve the right to determine what is or is not appropriate fitness attire. Individuals wearing inappropriate attire will be asked to leave or to borrow a clothing item from the Fitness desk.

 
Guest Policy: Can an accepted user bring an outside guest to the LSC?
Every guest of an accepted user of the Life Sports Center is required to complete a waiver form at the Control Desk before entering the facility and must be at least 12 years in age.

The following is a list of users who have guest privileges:
            Full-time students (regardless of age) & full-time employees
            Members of the Board of Directors
            Ongoing part-time staff
 


Alumni Policy: How do alumni and spouses become accepted users of the LSC?
All Muhlenberg College Alumni will have the opportunity to purchase a yearly pass to the Life Sports Center. This will grant alumni access to all areas of the LSC. Click here for more information.

An alumni pass is $315.00 for the Academic Year. An alumni spouse pass will be an additional $315.00.  Alumni are not permitted to bring dependents or guests to the LSC.
 
These passes can be purchased directly in the Athletic Office or online. Alumni will complete the required paperwork and make payment in the Athletic Office. Upon payment of the yearly fee, the required photo identification card can be obtained in Seegers Union. No alumni will be permitted to use the LSC without the proper photo identification card.
Visiting alumni may arrange a short term pass by contacting the Director of Athletics prior to your campus visit.
 

GCE Students & Part-time Students: Are these students permitted to use the LSC?
GCE students enrolled full time will be permitted to purchase Life Sports Center privileges. To use the facility these students must pay the Student Activity Fee, currently $300. They will be restricted users and therefore are not allowed to have guests. GCE students eligible for this benefit should report to the GCE office to complete the proper paperwork and pay the fee.

All part-time students of the college will have the opportunity to purchase a yearly pass for the Life Sports Center for a fee of $300. These individuals will not be granted guest privileges nor will their spouses or dependents be granted access to the facility. Part-time students will complete the required paperwork and make payment in the Athletic Office. Upon payment of the yearly fee, the required photo identification card can be obtained in Seegers Union.

 

Equipment Policy: How do I sign out equipment at the LSC?
A user may sign out recreational equipment directly at the Control Desk. The user will be required to leave his/her identification card at the Control Desk and sign out the equipment. The identification card will be returned to the user once the equipment has been returned and signed back in at the desk.
Examples of available equipment are: basketballs, volleyballs, and soccer balls, pickle ball rackets and balls, etc...

 


Temporary Guest Passes: Who is eligible for a Temporary Pass?
Temporary Guest Passes can be obtained in the Athletic Office. Only the President, Dean of Students and/or Director of Athletics may approve these passes.

 

Pre-Approved Groups: How will these groups gain access to the building?
The Life Sports Center often has outside groups that are granted permission to use the facility (Ex: Allentown Police Department, Summer camps, pool parties, Wellness Classes, Sacred Heart Hospital swim classes, noon basketball & volleyball groups & Jefferson Elementary School). Any group intending to use the LSC must make prior arrangements with the Athletic Department.  Contracts and Certificates of Insurance are required.


 


General Public: Can the general public use the LSC?
No individual is permitted access to the Life Sports Center other than accepted users and registered guests of those users. Any individual not possessing the proper identification card or a "temporary guest pass" will be denied access to the facility without exception.
